Could you please introduce yourself?
I am Claudia. Last year I applied to several schools like Imperial, LSE, and LBS, and I got accepted to all three of them. But my first option was London Business Schools, and I'll soon be starting the MIM program there. I am a graduate specialising in business administration and international relations from Universidad Pontificia Comillas ICAI-ICADE. I also did part-time work at Accenture in my last year of college.
Why a MIM at this early stage in your career, having just finished your BBA degree?
It was difficult for me to decide what to do, as Accenture offered me a full-time position. I was stuck trying to choose between working or continuing my studies. I will have all these years to work, so let me make the best of my studying to meet new people and learn in London. There was a lot of theory at university, and I believe that a MIM with all the experts will be a more practical learning experience.
What was your thought when you chose LBS, as there are many other colleges in Europe?
I had three options: Imperial, LSE, and LBS. All three of them are excellent schools, and they are the top in England. LBS is best suited for me because I am interested in the fashion and luxury industry. I thought that the teachers there and the program could help me with this direction in my career. LBS is also very good and geared towards consulting. Hence, I chose them because of their opportunity in consulting, fashion, and the luxury industry. Students should think about their preferences, the most suitable course and school before deciding.
Where did you do your internships?
I have had a lot of internships since I was young. When I was in school, I worked for Sunny Pictures and Starbucks, both for the marketing department. It was for a month each, but I still learned a lot about the basics and marketing. I also worked in the marketing and sales department at HUGO BOSS, a German fashion company.
The last and most influential internship I did was at Accenture as a digital marketing analyst. I have been there for a year and four months, so it's been a significant experience.
What is your take on extracurricular activities? How will they help a student get into a MIM classroom?
You have to make the best of your extracurricular activities as they want to see your character and the type of person you are through this. I am an extrovert who loves the company of others, which is why I enjoy playing golf and tennis so much.
So it's not only about how many things you do, but also how they help you grow and learn and can further help the community of which you are a part.
What are some interesting questions asked at the LBS interview?
There are a lot of interesting questions asked in the interview. Still, if you work with Dr Hubert and The MBA Center, you are definitely well prepared before the interview and already have an idea of the kind of questions you will face. You can be interviewed by alumni or someone in the admissions at LBS, and I was interviewed by alumni. With someone from admissions, it's a more formal interview. The interview is one-hour long, so you get to go through your whole profile and so forth.
Thank you for your time Claudia, it was nice to have this session with you!
