Alexandra, MIM, INSEAD, Nov 2022, Student of the Month

Meet Alexandra. She is a business student with a bachelor's in business administration and management from ESSEC and speaks English, Russian, Spanish, French, and Romanian. Alexandre has worked as a Next Generation Women Leader in Mckinsey and Company. She had gotten accepted to INSEAD as she wanted to pursue a master's in management there. Alexandra found INSEAD much more diverse in terms of the community, people, and programs it provides. She wanted more international exposure, and as she said in her recent interview with her, "There are many people from different programs and so much to learn. You also get to meet with them to make groups for activities that help you grow. Through this, you learn how to adjust to group dynamics and communicate with the different people around you." The experience that she has received by living and studying in four different countries has shaped her as a unique individual with strong interpersonal skills. She thrives by working in multicultural environments and firmly believes that teamwork makes the dream work! She is also certified in brand management: aligning business, brand, and behaviour at Coursera. Now let us have a closer look at her journey so far!

Can you please introduce yourself?

My name is Alexandra. My prior education is based on business, as I did my bachelor's in business administration and management from ESSEC. I'll soon be joining INSEAD for a MIM program as I want more international exposure to boost my career in the business field.

Can you tell something about this program at INSEAD to the applicants out there looking up to the same?

It is a ten-month program at INSEAD wherein you join in July. So, you can do a few pre-preparatory courses like communication, python, and some career-related courses and stuff to know yourself better and understand your motivations. Then in August, you have group activities to know each other better by interacting with other students. From September, we do all the courses that this program requires.

According to you, what are they looking for in a candidate at ESSEC?

They are not only looking for academics. They want well-rounded people who can contribute to the program and in-class and people who have a passion for something to do.

Tell us something about the admission process and what it was like for you?

I think the process had changed slightly, to be honest. You now get interviewed with one of the alumni, other than the experts. You have your GMAT, letters, essays, and the Kira interview. You can either take GRE or the GMAT accordingly.

What would be your piece of advice?

Start your preparation in advance and think about why you want to do this master's. It would be best if you had an idea of why you want to do this MIM program. And just be yourself, don't try to be someone you are not.
