This essay is about self-reflection and your ability to integrate your performance with external trends (and feedback) in leadership to improve your skills accordingly. To effectively write this essay, introduce your leadership skills with specific examples. Show which areas you may need improvement in and how Berkeley’s MBA will get you to your desired position. Use precise details relevant to their MBA to show your interest and knowledge of the program’s outstanding qualities and how they will improve you and your leadership capabilities.

Everyone faces adversity in life, and your background and resilience to adversity affect you as a leader. In this essay, show Berkeley where you have come from and how you have become who you are through all the challenges life throws at someone. This essay is optional, so if you chose to address this essay, make it more neutral and personal in nature without blaming anyone for your upbringing. Instead, show how an unusual life circumstance was challenging for you, but you could still succeed into the successful person you are today.
