Interview with Simon
One of our students, Simon, got accepted to MIT which is one of the top US universities. So let us have a look at his journey so far!.
Could you please tell us something about yourself?
Simon: Hi everybody, I’m Simon. I did my MSc at KU Leuven, Belgium. I have always been interested in finance so last year I decided to change focus and time on my career in finance. And that was the moment when I decided to apply for another masters from a top-notch business school. And I got accepted to MIT.
Did you consider other programs or schools too?
Simon: Yes, of course. I also applied to a few other B-Schools and I got accepted to all and they were such as HEC, LBS, and ESSEC. I finally chose to go to MIT.
What was the most difficult part for you in the whole application process? The challenges you faced and how did you tackle them?
Simon: I think it was about the essays, especially from my first application. I think that was a kind of struggle because you have to be concise and at the same time you want to try to tell them as much as possible. So that was a kind of difficult process but I ended up with good essays as Dr. Hubert gave some very valuable input and he was always there to dual check them and finalize.
Any advice or tips you would like to give to the candidates applying for the same?
Simon: I would say here to start the process early right after you make up your mind to go for a particular program or school without any delay. I started my application process on time so I had enough to prepare for my GMAT, to write my essays, to get them corrected, and to write a second version. I think that is the most important thing. From the moment to decide to go forth, you have to go forth not to postpone or wait for something to happen.
