Could you please introduce yourself?
My name is Lola. I graduated from Université libre de Bruxelles with a Master of Science (M.Sc.) and information technology degree. I believe that I'm international as my program was taught in English at Columbia. Outside of that, I'm passionate about science, and I am also the founder of Yes She Can. It's an initiative to attract more female candidates in engineering.
What brought you to apply for a MIM?
I did well in my studies, and as I said, I also love science. I want to develop my scope of management skills and competencies, and that's something that a master's in management would allow me to do. In my application, I wrote that I want to work in consulting, whether finance, project management, or brand management, in a fortune 500 company. I had several reasons for doing a MIM, I also didn't have any work experience, and I wanted to create a network, talk to people, discover myself, etc.
Why LBS?
So, I have applied to all the MIM programs in London: LBS, Imperial, etc. LBS is my favourite not only because of the ranking but also the location, being an international city and the duration of the program. Finally, of course, because of the practical approach, the purpose of the care centre, probably the best in Europe, etc.
What advice would you give to the potential MBA OR MIM applicants?
The first piece of advice is a clear idea and understanding of why you want to do a master's if you wish to have career growth, international exposure, recognition, a degree, or anything in particular. As in my case, I was very sure that I wanted to have a short duration of the program in a very international environment. Be surrounded by the best and get professional help from Dr Hubert, well-known in Belgium. He supported me throughout the process and helped me choose the best-suited program and school. He is the one who suggested LBS for me. Dr Hubert and the MBA Center team have been a great support system for me.
