Could you please tell us more about yourself?
I am Alexandra, and I have dual citizenship, Georgian and French. I am a graduate of SKEMA Business School, and I have double degrees from SKEMA and McGill University, majoring in finance. After these, I worked handling M&A financial transactions at Veolia Water Technologies.
Why INSEAD?
As I already have two degrees from reputable business schools and didn’t want to have another degree from the US or any London business school, INSEAD was precisely what I wanted. First of all, it is a one-year program that I think is more than enough for what I expect. Secondly, I wanted to explore a new country, and lastly, I wanted to work for 5 to 10 years in the US after my MBA and get back to Europe to have a network here too.
Why an MBA?
My answer might sound strange as I already have two degrees. However, I felt that my degrees are more focused on finance, and I wanted to have a more global experience in business and management. After a few years of experience, I think that I am ready to embrace a more comprehensive view of the business to become a strategic peer in the company.
Any tips that you would like to give to future applicants?
First of all, be focused. It’s important to know what you want. After considering all the programs, I realized that the only good fit for me was INSEAD. Second of all, make contacts, especially when you live in Western Europe, as it helps you grow even better. I might not be the first to say this but be surrounded by the best. Dr Hubert’s role was essential to my success, and because of his help, I managed to get a GMAT score of 700, which is not surprising, given the quality of his classes.
Thank you for your time Alexandra, it was nice to have this session with you!
