Can you tell us more about yourself?
My name is Eudore. I am trilingual with a passion for languages and numbers. I graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Economics and Business Economics from the Maastricht University School of Business and Economics. I also attended the Summer course- Introduction to Econometrics and Quantitative Economics at The London School of Economics and Political Science. I began my career as a Sales Assistant at Swarovski in Singapore and moved on as an Independent Distributor for Xango.
What prompted you to apply for a MIM?
I completed my Bachelors Degree in Economics and Business Economics from Maastricht University. However, I soon realized that the knowledge I had gained there was very theoretical and I did not see how I could put it in practice. I realized that if I wanted to move forward in my career, internationalize it and build it into something, I’d need to get a degree and an MBA from IE would help me in this goal. Moreover, it was also an opportunity for me to study in a business school where I could acquire all the knowledge necessary to fast track my career.
What did you find the most difficult in the application process?
As I’m not a quant at all GMAT was very difficult for me. In that respect, I’d like to mention that Dr. Hubert Silly advised me to take the Instituto de Empresa admission test that allowed me to get into the top MIM program at IE which meant I could sit out the GMAT. It must be mentioned that it was only due to Dr. Hubert Silly’s knowledge about the field that he was able to help me find a way of getting me out of the GMAT.
Another problem I faced was that when I started my admission process I had no work experience to speak of as I was fresh out of school. I was finding it very difficult to create a profile that the college would accept. The time that I spent with Dr. Hubert Silly was very valuable as it allowed me to look at my life from a different perspective and find something of value in it that would allow me to get into business schools.
What is life like at IE Business School?
Being a part of the IE family and getting a chance to live in Madrid as a student are exciting opportunities. There are a myriad number of events going on an any given time on the campus. From TEDx talks to conferences and symposiums, you are never short of events to attend. The student body is hugely diverse and there is a state of the art student services and great campus life ensuring that students get to enjoy every facility while always being in the learning environment.
What would be your advice to someone applying for a MIM program?
When I first went to the MBA Center, my objective was to apply to schools such as Solvay and Vlerick which are considered very prestigious and valuable in Belgium. Little by little, while preparing for the GMAT, I realized that I could be a little more ambitious and decided to target and get IE which is among the top three MIMs in the world. I am very thankful to Dr. Hubert Silly who believed in me and helped me get the school that I could only dream about. So my advice to prospective candidates is to get in touch with people who can help you the way Dr. Hubert Silly was able to help me by giving me advice on how I could find schools to make my profile very international and how I had a way that did not involve giving the GMAT.
Dr. Hubert Silly has also been of great help to my cousins and best friend, all of whom got admitted to schools like IE, LBS, LSE, Sogang University in Korea, etc. and all of them have been able to get into their dream schools and get the career that they wanted. They are all very thankful to Dr. Hubert Silly and recommend his services to their own contacts too.
