Cornell Johnson MBA Admissions Consulting

Cornell’s Johnson Graduate School of Management runs a two-year residential MBA in Ithaca, with an option to spend time at Cornell Tech in New York City. Its application is distinctive: a structured goals statement that names your target role, company and industry, then a choice between an impact essay and a creative ‘Table of Contents’ of your life. MBA Center has helped candidates into the Cornell MBA. Our founder, Dr Hubert Silly, was himself admitted to Cornell, Wharton and Columbia.

Round 1 has closed. At the initial notification you receive an interview invitation, a place on the waitlist without interview, or a denial. Admitted candidates pay a non-refundable USD 1,500 deposit by their round’s deposit deadline and a second USD 1,500 by 4 June 2027. Round 3 is reviewed on a space-available basis. Interview

The Cornell interview

An interview is required for admission and is by invitation only. You choose between an interview in Ithaca and one by Zoom; Johnson says it has no preference. Interviewers are members of the admissions team, MBA programme staff or trained second-year students from the Johnson Admissions Group, and all interviews are weighted equally. Expect to expand on your goals statement and connect your past experience to your target role.

Cost

Cornell MBA cost 2026–27

Cornell’s estimated cost of attendance for 2026–27 is USD 127,278 for the academic year, including USD 88,934 in tuition and a one-off USD 1,500 first-year fee. All admitted candidates are considered for merit scholarships automatically. Source: Cornell MBA tuition and financing.

Cornell Johnson admissions: frequently asked questions

What essays does the Cornell MBA require?

A goals statement, in which you name your immediate and 5–10-year target role, company and industry, plus one essay of your choice: an Impact essay on how you will contribute to the Johnson community, or a Table of Contents essay presenting your life story, each up to 350 words or a multimedia equivalent.

What are the Cornell MBA deadlines for 2026–27?

Round 1 closed on 17 September 2026. Round 2 and the Consortium traditional deadline are 5 January 2027, and Round 3, the final round, is 6 April 2027. All deadlines are 11:59 pm Eastern Time.

Does Cornell Johnson accept the Executive Assessment?

Yes. Johnson accepts the GMAT, GRE and Executive Assessment, taken within five years, and candidates may also request a test waiver with a short statement on why they will succeed academically.

What GMAT score do I need for Cornell?

There is no minimum. Johnson says the middle 80% of applicants submit GMAT scores between 660 and 740, with comparable GRE scores.

Who interviews Cornell MBA applicants?

Invited candidates are interviewed by the admissions team, MBA programme staff or trained second-year students, either in Ithaca or by Zoom. All interviews carry equal weight and an interview is required for admission.
