Study Plan

How long does IELTS preparation take?

In our experience, moving up half a band takes four to six weeks and a full band two to three months. Writing and Speaking are where most candidates gain or lose the band they need. A typical plan with MBA Center:

Diagnostic mock

Set a band for each skill and compare it with your schools’ minimums.

Weeks 1–2

Listening and Reading question types, timing and answer transfer.

Weeks 3–4

Writing Task 1 and Task 2 with teacher marking against the official criteria.

Weeks 5–6

Speaking mocks with an examiner-style teacher, and full-length mock tests.

Test day

Choose paper, computer or IELTS Online; on computer you get results in days and can use One Skill Retake if one band falls short.
