Financial Times released its Global MBA Ranking 2022, and US business schools have made their place on top! More than half of the top MBA programs ranked are from the United States. The top 10 MBA programmes according to The Financial Times Global MBA rankings for 2022 are listed below.
After opting out of the Financial Times MBA Ranking last year, Wharton has again ranked the number one MBA programme in the world in 2022!
The high salary given to new MBA graduates by American firms is one of the main reasons for the country's dominance in the global MBA ranking. Salaries are one of the criteria used by the FT ranking to evaluate universities and colleges worldwide. After a year marked by increased demand for the degree amid the pandemic's disruption, high pay for American MBA graduates helped propel US business schools to the top of the FT's 2022 ranking.
Wharton and Columbia were the top two schools, with Wharton coming in first and Columbia coming in second. Insead came in third in both France and Singapore. London Business School, IESE in Barcelona, HEC Paris, SDA Bocconi in Milan, and China Europe International Business School (Ceibs) in Shanghai are among the top tier schools.
After excluding the incomes of individuals going into lower-paid work areas, such as the public sector, alumni of The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania reported the highest overall average annual salary in 2021, at $238,000, three years after graduation. When adjusted for buying power parity worldwide, the average pay for alumni of the top 100 colleges was $161,000 this year.
Methodological Analysis for the FT Global MBA Rankings 2022
According to the Financial Times, the rankings are based on data provided by participating schools and alumni, with significant weightings given to factors such as academic research output, student and faculty diversity measured by gender mix and citizenship, as well as factors such as salary and salary increase three years after completion. This coveted global rating is only open to B-schools that have been recognised by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) or EQUIS, two leading international organisations.
