THE DUAL DEGREE: SCIENCES PO AND COLUMBIA UNIVERSITY
Sciences Po along with Columbia University offers undergraduates a unique opportunity to be a part of a program with an international framework through its Dual Degree program.
As a student of this course, you will gain an opportunity to be a part of two distinct environments, one in regional France while the other at a research university in NYC.
The Dual Degree with Columbia University program at Sciences Po builds upon a decade-long partnership between Sciences Po and Columbia University through the Alliance Program, a joint venture between Columbia, Sciences Po, the École Polytechnique, and the Université Paris 1 Panthéon Sorbonne. The initiative began as a way to “develop new initiatives in the fields of education cooperation, research collaboration, and policy outreach.” Upon completion of the program, students are awarded two bachelor’s degrees.
As a student of this program, you will spend the first two years at one of the three Sciences Po campuses which include Le Havre, Menton or Reims. Each of these campuses is devoted to particular regions across the globe and offers a great focus on the linguistics and culture of that area. For example, the Le Havre campus which is located on the Normandy Coast focuses on Asia, with language instruction in Chinese, Hindi, Indonesian, Japanese, and Korean; the Menton campus which is located on the French Riviera focuses on the Mediterranean countries and the Middle East, with language instruction in Arabic, Hebrew, Italian, Spanish, and Turkish; while the Reims campus located in the Champagne region focuses either North America or Africa, the Transatlantic campus offers language instruction in Arabic, English, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Spanish, and Swahili.
The Reims campus also focuses strongly on relations between Europe and Africa or Europe and North America.
The second half of the program which is the third and fourth year will be spent at Columbia fulfilling Columbia University’s core and major requirements as well as Sciences Po‘s year abroad requirements. At the end of the program, students will receive two bachelor’s degrees from these schools as well as gain access to a huge network of alumni from both the schools.
