Essay 1: If you had to come up with a motto for your life, what would it be and why? Please give an example of how you have demonstrated it (word limit 300 max)
In this essay question, the applicants are asked by the admission committee to talk about their lives and reflect about it through a moto! This a chance for the applicant to showcase the creativity and imagination and, in a good way, give them a sense who you truly are, your values and your character! You always remember that it must all be relevant to the MBA program and anything you mention should stay around that theme!
The applicants must start by mentioning the moto first. While 300 words might be a little of a challenge when it comes to use it all to express who you truly are and why the admission committee must choose you! But you must accept the challenge and start by perhaps mentioning a quality about you or two! Something you wish to showcase such as creativity or leadership! Kindness! We need a lot of that in today’s world and the committee would be pleased to know that there are still kind people in this planet today!
You should include an event or an example from work or from outside of work which could give the committee a better idea on how you think and how your leadership skills could match with IESE’s mission and values! You must talk in details about the actions related to the moto and how they have impacted your long term goals!
Essay 2: Describe your short and medium-term post-MBA goals? How will the IESE MBA help you achieve them? (word limit 300 max)
While this question is present in almost all MBA applications, it is still a very tricky question and requires a lot of thinking because through the answer, the admission committee can better decide wether you fit in within the IESE community and they can also make the decision on whether the school and the program can help you achieve those short and long term goals you have set for yourself!
The applicant must be specific here and mention they future goals after graduating with the MBA at IESE Business School! Name a certain course, a professor or a club within the school campus and how they relate to your over all plan of fulfilling your goals in general! The committee would be pleased to know that you made the research on the program and the school before you decided to apply for it! It shows that you are very committed and very enthusiastic about joining their community which they have helped built!
